Rachy-Rach

I am just so lucky to be surrounded by so many super talented, creative and inspirational people. My beautiful close friend Rachel Kahn is a pure example of what qualities I find truly inspiring in a friend - creativity and goodness of heart.

She is the worlds best nail artist...

and baker too...

Out and about

Akash Bhatt

Drawing is part of my life, it has always been a part of my daily creativity - even on a busy day I like to try to find 10 minutes of my time to draw. I do this not only to help me improve, but also to express my feelings and enjoy freedom and beauty.

A while ago, I was told to look at the work of Akash Bhatt, an artist, who once said that "drawing is the ultimate comfort." And I totally agree.

I love how he draws people and surroundings with great directness as well as sensitivity.

I did a study of my favorite of his paintings.

Instead of using oil paints, I used oil pastels to create a withered effect.

I just love how the vibrancy of the orange makes it look as if the building is on fire.

Nearly finished...

D.I.Y Damien Hirst piece

Inspired by Damien Hirst's 'Spot paintings', I decided to make my own little dotty world.

I did this by gathering and accumulating discarded bottle caps. I felt like a magpie, choosing its treasure, except I was collecting left behind objects from daily life.

I think my final outcome hits the spot:

I hope it inspires all of you beauties to up-cycle and fuse objects in fantastical ways!

D.I.Y felted iPhone case

After years of owning a blackberry, I can now confirm that I am officially a fully converted iPhone-lover. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to purchase one (as of yet) - but I will continue sitting, waiting and wishing...

Although I know that my blackberry prefers to go commando, I am convinced that I could really rock a case for my imaginary iPhone.

But the problem is, what kind of case would I have?

Well world...if you didn’t know already, I feel completely powerless to resist anything modern and felt. So, it is no wonder that I eventually decided to make a cute and whimsical iPhone case with one of my favourite materials, felt (handmade of course).

Now, let's not pretend...it is clear that this handmade iPhone case will not only make you look extremely stylish and rather charming, but it will also help to keep your phone snug, safe and sound.

To make this felted iPhone case, you will need:

- A sewing machine (or you could sew by hand)
- Some felt (hand-made if preferred)
- Some fabric scissors

1. Measure up the felt with your phone and decide what size to cut your felt (remember to leave enough space to include the depth of your phone and add an extra 2cm for seam allowance).

2. Mark your felt out with chalk and cut two equal sized pieces.

3. Sew the two pieces of felt together around three edges, leaving the opening free.

4. Turn inside out and add a label if desired

5. Voila!

Bisous

My love for nail art (or any art for that matter) is no secret, but I may just have found a competing obsession -  Paige Thompson's bestial lip art. This kissable zoo is almost too cute to resist - I just had to post!

If you have a daring demeanour, these innovative little beauties could be a great form of dress-up, expression or even simply for experimentation.

Thompson's lip art is just so creative and such a breath of fresh air, that I'm now beginning to  think that maybe  I should try injecting some creativity into my lipstick routine from now on... After all, I'm recently starting to tire of my love for my Topshop winter vamp shade anyway...

Unfortunately, my Damien Hirst inspired lamb lip art didn't quite work out. In spending a whole lot more time by the mirror, my unsteady hands and ticklish lips kept making me laugh....

But don't be afraid, pucker-up, I promise you they won't bite!
